Privacy Policy

This policy covers personal information that JJ Energy Inc. collects through https://www.jjenergyinc.com, through our contact and quote request forms, through the solar savings calculator, by phone, by email, by text message and in person during site assessments and installations in Palm Desert and the wider Coachella Valley.

It does not cover websites, apps or services operated by other companies, including equipment manufacturers, utilities, finance providers and review platforms, even where we link to them. Those organizations publish their own privacy policies and you should read them before providing information.

Information you give us

Our contact and quote request forms ask for the details we need to respond usefully:

• Your name
• Your email address
• Your phone number
• The city or community your property is in
• The service you are interested in, such as solar, battery storage, a generator, an EV charger or electrical work
• An approximate monthly electricity bill range
• Whatever you choose to write in the message field

You may also give us more as a project moves forward: your service address, your utility account details, photographs of your panel and roof, access instructions, appointment preferences, billing details and any documents you send us. Values you type into the savings calculator are used in your browser to display an estimate. They are stored by us only if you go on to submit a form that includes them.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, ours records limited technical information when you visit, through server logs and a privacy-conscious analytics service:

• IP address, which may be shortened or masked, and the approximate city or region derived from it
• Browser type and version, operating system, device type and screen size
• Pages viewed, time on page, scroll depth and the links you clicked
• The site or search that referred you, and any campaign parameters in the link you followed
• Error and performance data that tells us when a page failed to load correctly

This information is used in aggregate to understand which pages are useful and where the site needs work. Our cookie policy explains the technologies involved and how to control them.

Information from third parties

• Your utility, where you sign an authorization allowing release of your billing or interval usage history so we can size a system accurately
• Finance providers, where you apply for financing and they confirm application status to us with your consent
• Publicly available property information, such as parcel records and aerial or satellite imagery used for preliminary roof measurement
• Referral sources, such as a past customer, a builder or a partner who passes on your enquiry with your knowledge
• Review platforms and social media, where you contact us through them

We use what we collect to run a contracting business, not to build profiles for advertisers. Specifically, we use it to:

• Answer your enquiry and give you a straight answer about whether a project makes sense
• Prepare a preliminary estimate, schedule a site assessment and produce a written proposal
• Design and size a system, including load calculations, shading analysis and equipment selection
• Prepare and submit permit applications, structural documentation and utility interconnection paperwork on your behalf
• Order equipment, schedule crews and coordinate inspections
• Register equipment warranties, provide service and handle warranty claims
• Take payment and keep the accounting, contractor and tax records the law requires us to keep
• Send project updates by email, phone or text about appointments, permits and installation dates
• Send occasional news, guides or offers where you have asked to hear from us, with an unsubscribe link in every email
• Understand which pages and guides help people, and improve the site accordingly
• Protect the site and our customers against fraud, spam and abuse of our forms
• Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests

California law asks that we be clear about the business purposes behind each use. In plain terms, we rely on the following:

• Performing a contract, or taking steps at your request before a contract: preparing your quote, designing your system, installing it and servicing it
• Our legitimate business interests: operating and improving the website, keeping records of what was quoted and installed, securing our systems and preventing fraud
• Legal obligations: contractor licensing and recordkeeping rules, permit and inspection records, warranty documentation, tax and accounting requirements
• Your consent: marketing emails, text message updates, credit applications submitted to a finance provider, and any release authorizing a utility to share your usage history

Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that already happened, and it does not remove records we are required to keep.

We share personal information only where it is needed to do the work or where the law requires it:

• Our own staff and installation crews, who see only what they need to design, permit, install or service your system
• Subcontracted trades, where a project needs one, such as a roofer, a crane operator, a structural engineer or a specialty inspector, limited to the site details required to do their part
• Equipment manufacturers and suppliers, for ordering, warranty registration and warranty claims
• Finance providers, only when you ask us to submit an application or you consent to an introduction
• Utilities and permitting authorities, for interconnection applications, net metering enrolment, permits and inspections
• Service providers under contract, including website hosting, email, customer relationship management, analytics, scheduling, e-signature and payment processing, who may use the information only to provide their service to us
• Professional advisers such as our accountants, insurers and attorneys, where they need it
• Law enforcement, courts or regulators where a valid legal request, subpoena or safety issue requires disclosure
• A successor organization, if our business or its assets are ever sold or merged, in which case we will post notice on this page and the information stays subject to this policy

We do not sell personal information, and we have not sold personal information in the preceding twelve months. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, we do not trade or rent contact lists, and we do not pass your details to lead resellers or to other contractors.

We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under sixteen years of age. If our practices ever change, we will update this page before the change takes effect and provide the opt-out mechanisms California law requires.

We keep information only as long as there is a reason to:

• Enquiries that do not become projects: normally kept for up to two years so we can pick up the conversation if you come back, then deleted or anonymised
• Customer project files, including contracts, designs, permits, inspection records and photographs: kept for the life of the workmanship warranty and for as long as California contractor recordkeeping, warranty and tax rules require
• Accounting and payment records: kept for the periods required by tax law
• Website analytics: kept in aggregated form, with identifiers removed or shortened, and retained no longer than needed to see trends
• Marketing preferences and unsubscribe records: kept for as long as needed to honor your choice

You can ask us to delete information sooner, and we will unless we are required or permitted to keep it, for example to complete a job, honor a warranty, resolve a dispute or satisfy a legal obligation.

The site is served over an encrypted connection, form submissions travel over TLS, and access to customer records is limited to staff who need it and protected by individual accounts and multi-factor authentication where the system supports it. We choose vendors that commit to protecting the data they process for us, and we review that when we take on a new one.

No website, email system or physical office is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise. Please do not send sensitive identifiers such as Social Security numbers or full financial account numbers through the contact form. If we ever become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by California breach notification law.

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act gives you the following rights over the personal information we hold about you:

• The right to know what we collect, the categories of sources, the business purposes for collecting it, the categories of third parties it is disclosed to, and to receive a copy of the specific pieces we hold
• The right to delete personal information we collected from you, subject to legal and contractual exceptions such as completing a job, honoring a warranty or keeping required records
• The right to correct inaccurate personal information
• The right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share it, so there is nothing to opt out of, but you are welcome to submit a request and we will confirm that in writing
• The right to limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would trigger this right
• The right not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising any of these rights, meaning no denial of service, no different pricing and no lower quality of service
• The right to use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf

We need to verify who you are before we release or delete anything, so we will ask you to confirm details that match what is already in our records, such as the email address or phone number used to contact us or the service address on a project file. For a request for specific pieces of information we may ask for one additional point of confirmation. We will not ask for sensitive documents we do not already hold.

We acknowledge requests within ten business days and respond within forty-five calendar days. If we need more time, we will tell you within that period and take up to another forty-five days. Requests are free unless they are excessive or repetitive, in which case we will explain before doing anything. An authorized agent must provide written permission signed by you, and we may still contact you directly to confirm.

If you are unhappy with our response, contact us first and we will look at it again. You may also complain to the California Privacy Protection Agency or the California Attorney General.

California Civil Code section 1798.83, known as the Shine the Light law, allows California residents to ask a business once a year for a list of the personal information it disclosed to third parties for those third parties' own direct marketing purposes, together with the names and addresses of those parties.

We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing. If you would like that confirmed in writing, email hello@jjenergyinc.com with Shine the Light Request in the subject line and include the address where you would like the response sent.

This website sells home and commercial energy services and is intended for adults. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under sixteen years of age.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has given us personal information, contact us at hello@jjenergyinc.com and we will delete it promptly.

Some browsers send a Do Not Track signal. There is still no common industry standard for how a website should interpret it, so this site does not respond to Do Not Track headers in any particular way. We keep our own collection minimal instead, and we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Where your browser or an extension sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a valid request to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information, even though we do not sell or share it.

If you give us a mobile number and opt in, we may text you about your quote, your appointment window, permit progress and installation scheduling. Message frequency varies with your project, message and data rates may apply, and consent to receive texts is never a condition of buying anything from us. Reply STOP to any message to end them and HELP for assistance, or tell us by phone or email and we will remove the number.

Calls to and from our office may be monitored or recorded for quality, training and accuracy of scheduling. California is a two-party consent state, so where a call is being recorded we will tell you at the start of it. If you would prefer not to be recorded, say so and we will stop the recording or continue the conversation by email.

This site links to manufacturers, utilities, incentive programme administrators, finance providers, review platforms and social media. Following a link takes you to an organization we do not control, with its own privacy policy and its own collection practices.

We are not responsible for what those organizations do with information you give them. Read their policies before submitting anything, particularly on a credit application.

We review this policy periodically and update it when our practices, our vendors or the law change. The current version is always published here with a revised last updated date, and it takes effect when posted.

If a change materially affects how we handle information we already hold about you, we will make that clear on this page and, where the law requires it, contact you directly.
