Solar, storage, generators, electrical

Everything that gets power onto your property and keeps it there.

Four lines of work under one licence. Most valley properties need more than one of them, and doing it under a single contractor is what stops the finger-pointing when something later needs attention.

Section 01

Solar Energy Solutions

Design, permitting and installation for rooftops that take 3,300 hours of sun a year.

The Coachella Valley gives you more usable sunlight than almost anywhere in the country, and it punishes hardware that was specified for a milder climate. JJ Energy Inc. designs every array around desert conditions first: high-temperature-coefficient modules, wind-load calculations for the San Gorgonio corridor, standoff heights that let heat off the roof deck, and conduit runs rated for surface temperatures that clear 170 degrees in August. We handle the interconnection paperwork with SCE and IID, the city or county permit, and the inspection.

Residential Solar

Roof-mounted and patio-cover arrays sized to your actual usage, not a sales target.

We start with twelve months of your utility history rather than a square-footage guess, then model production against your roof pitch, azimuth and shading. Most Palm Desert homes land between 6 kW and 14 kW once summer air conditioning is accounted for. Mounting is flashed and sealed for tile, shingle, foam or standing seam, and every penetration is documented photographically before it is covered.

  • Tile, shingle, foam and standing-seam roofs
  • Patio cover and pergola mounting
  • NEM 3.0 modelling before you sign
  • Utility interconnection handled end to end

Commercial Solar

Flat-roof, carport and ground-mount systems for valley businesses on demand-charge tariffs.

Commercial bills in the valley are driven as much by demand charges as by consumption, so a commercial array that ignores your 15-minute peaks leaves money on the table. We pull interval data, model the array against your rate schedule, and where the numbers support it we pair it with storage to shave peaks. Ballasted racking for flat membrane roofs, engineered carports for parking fields, and ground mounts where land is available.

  • Interval-data analysis and demand-charge modelling
  • Ballasted, penetrating and carport racking
  • Title 24 and CALGreen documentation
  • Phased builds that follow your capital cycle

Off-Grid & Hybrid Systems

Full independence for remote desert properties, or a hybrid system that keeps one foot on the grid.

Properties out toward Thermal, Sky Valley and the Mecca Hills often sit far enough from a service drop that a utility extension costs more than a standalone system. We size those builds around worst-case winter production and real load profiles, including well pumps and shop tools. Hybrid systems give grid-connected homes the same resilience without abandoning net metering.

  • Load study before sizing
  • Well pump and workshop loads accounted for
  • Generator integration for winter shortfalls
  • Remote monitoring on cellular backhaul

Financing Options

Cash, secured loans, PACE and commercial leasing, laid out side by side with the real numbers.

We are not a lender and we do not earn more when you pick one product over another. What we do is put the options on one page: total cost, monthly payment, dealer fee where one applies, the federal Residential Clean Energy Credit, and what your break-even year looks like under each. Plenty of our customers run the numbers and decide cash is right. That is a good outcome too.

  • Federal tax credit guidance in writing
  • Secured and unsecured loan comparisons
  • PACE assessments where available
  • Commercial leases and PPAs for qualifying businesses

Maintenance & Repairs

Cleaning, inverter service, monitoring and repair work, including systems we did not install.

Desert dust and spring wind events cost an unwashed array real production, and inverters live a hard life on a west-facing wall in July. We run scheduled cleaning and inspection visits, replace failed optimisers and inverters, chase down production drops through monitoring data, and take on orphaned systems whose original installer has left the market.

  • Scheduled cleaning and thermal inspection
  • Inverter and optimiser replacement
  • Production diagnostics from monitoring data
  • Orphaned system adoption and warranty review

Section 02

Battery Storage Solutions

Storage is what makes solar useful after 4pm, when valley rates peak and the grid is least stable.

Under current net-metering rules the electricity you export at noon is worth a fraction of the electricity you buy at 7pm. Storage closes that gap. It also keeps the air conditioning running through a public safety power shutoff or a summer outage, which in this climate is a health question rather than a comfort question. We size batteries against the loads you actually need to carry and tell you plainly what a given capacity will and will not run.

Home Backup Systems

Whole-home or essential-loads backup that carries you through an outage in August.

The honest conversation about home storage is about air conditioning. A single battery will comfortably carry lighting, refrigeration, networking and fans overnight. Carrying a 4-ton condenser through a 115-degree afternoon takes more capacity and usually a soft-start retrofit. We model your actual panel and tell you which loads land on backup, in writing, before installation.

  • Essential-loads and whole-home configurations
  • Soft-start retrofits for air conditioning
  • Automatic transfer with no manual switching
  • Time-of-use arbitrage to cut peak-rate purchases

Business Energy Storage

Peak shaving and load shifting for restaurants, clinics, retail and light industrial sites.

For a commercial customer, storage often pays for itself on demand charges before a single outage happens. We analyse interval data to find the peaks that set your monthly demand charge, then size a system to clip them. For refrigeration-dependent businesses the backup case stands on its own: one lost walk-in of inventory usually exceeds the annual cost of the system.

  • Demand-charge peak shaving
  • Refrigeration and point-of-sale continuity
  • SGIP incentive applications where eligible
  • Scalable racks that grow with the site

Emergency Power

Critical-load protection for medical equipment, well pumps and remote properties.

Some outages are an inconvenience and some are an emergency. Oxygen concentrators, CPAP machines, medication refrigeration, septic and well pumps all need power that does not depend on a crew reaching your street. We build these systems with margin, test them under load at commissioning, and set monitoring alerts so a fault is caught before you need the system rather than during.

  • Medical baseline load protection
  • Well and septic pump backup
  • Load-tested at commissioning
  • Fault alerting through remote monitoring

Battery Maintenance

Firmware, capacity testing and thermal checks that keep a battery honest as it ages.

Batteries degrade, and they degrade faster in a garage that hits 120 degrees. Our maintenance visits check state of health against the original capacity, verify thermal management is working, apply manufacturer firmware, and confirm the transfer equipment still operates. We document each visit so warranty claims have the evidence behind them.

  • State-of-health capacity testing
  • Thermal management verification
  • Firmware and manufacturer updates
  • Warranty documentation kept on file

Section 03

Generator Solutions

When an outage runs past what a battery can cover, a generator is what keeps the house habitable.

Batteries and generators are not competitors. A battery handles the first few hours silently and instantly. A generator handles day three of a wind event with no sun forecast. Many of our customers run both, with the generator configured to recharge the battery bank overnight. We size, install, permit and service standby units on natural gas and propane, and we service portable equipment for customers who want a lower-cost option.

Whole-Home Standby Generators

Permanently installed units that start themselves within seconds of an outage.

A standby generator sits on a pad beside the house, monitors utility power continuously, and transfers the load automatically when it drops. There is nothing to start and no fuel to carry. We handle the gas line, the pad, the transfer switch, the permit and the sound-attenuation placement that keeps you on good terms with your neighbours and inside local noise ordinances.

  • Automatic transfer switch installation
  • Natural gas and propane fuel systems
  • Pad, gas line and permit handled in house
  • Placement planned around noise ordinances

Commercial Generators

Code-compliant standby power for businesses that cannot afford to close.

For medical offices, food service, data rooms and any facility with a legally required emergency system, the generator is part of your compliance posture, not just your comfort. We install to the applicable NFPA and CEC requirements, coordinate with your fire authority, and set up the documented load testing that inspectors expect to see.

  • NFPA 110 and CEC compliant installations
  • Fire authority coordination
  • Documented monthly and annual load testing
  • Fuel supply and runtime planning

Portable Generator Setup

Safe interlocks and inlet boxes so a portable unit powers your panel without backfeeding.

Portable generators are a reasonable budget option, and they are also how people get hurt. Running a house off extension cords or, worse, a double-male cord into a wall outlet puts live current onto the utility line where crews are working. We install a permitted inlet box and a mechanical interlock kit so the portable unit feeds your panel safely and legally.

  • Permitted generator inlet boxes
  • Mechanical interlock kits
  • Correct sizing and cord specification
  • Safe operation walkthrough on handover

Generator Maintenance & Repairs

Annual service, exercise verification and repairs for units of any brand.

A standby generator that has not been serviced is a very expensive lawn ornament, and most failures happen on the first outage after a year of neglect. Our service covers oil and filters, battery replacement, coolant, fuel system inspection, transfer switch operation and a load test. We service what we install and what we did not.

  • Annual and semi-annual service plans
  • Battery, oil, filter and coolant service
  • Transfer switch operation testing
  • Repairs on all major brands

Section 04

Electrical Services

The licensed electrical work that makes everything else possible, and the everyday jobs too.

JJ Energy Inc. is a licensed electrical contractor, not a solar sales office that subcontracts its wiring. That matters when your 1978 panel needs to accept a battery, an EV charger and a heat pump without a service upgrade you were not warned about. It also means we take on straightforward electrical work: a dead circuit, a nuisance breaker, a panel that runs warm.

Main Panel Upgrades

200A service upgrades, subpanels and load calculations for homes adding modern loads.

A lot of valley housing stock was built when a home drew a fraction of what it draws now. Add solar, a battery, an EV and a heat pump to a 100A panel and something has to give. We run a proper load calculation to NEC Article 220 first, because sometimes the answer is a load-management device rather than a full service upgrade, and that is a substantially cheaper afternoon.

  • NEC load calculations before we quote
  • Panel and meter main replacement
  • Utility coordination and shutdown scheduling
  • Load-management alternatives where they fit

EV Charging Installation

Level 2 charging at home or across a commercial parking field.

A Level 2 charger turns an overnight trickle into a full battery by morning, and pairing it with solar means most of those miles cost you nothing. We install hardwired and plug-in units, run conduit that is sized for a second charger later, and handle multi-unit commercial deployments including load sharing where the service cannot support every port at full draw.

  • Hardwired and NEMA 14-50 installations
  • Conduit sized for a future second charger
  • Load-sharing for multi-port commercial sites
  • Rebate paperwork support

Smart Energy Management

Monitoring, automated load control and time-of-use scheduling that runs itself.

Once you have solar, storage and an EV, the question stops being how much power you make and becomes when you use it. We install circuit-level monitoring so you can see where the money goes, then automate the decisions: pre-cool the house on solar production, charge the car off the battery surplus, shed non-critical loads during an outage without you touching anything.

  • Circuit-level consumption monitoring
  • Automated load shedding during outages
  • Time-of-use charge and discharge scheduling
  • Smart thermostat and pool equipment integration

Repairs & Troubleshooting

Dead circuits, tripping breakers, warm panels, aluminium wiring and failed GFCIs.

Not every job is a project. Breakers that trip without an obvious cause, outlets that stopped working, panels that smell warm, aluminium branch wiring in a mid-century home, outdoor circuits that fail every monsoon season. We diagnose properly rather than replacing parts until the symptom goes away, and we tell you when something is genuinely urgent and when it can wait.

  • Circuit tracing and fault diagnosis
  • Breaker, GFCI and AFCI replacement
  • Aluminium branch-circuit remediation
  • Outdoor and pool equipment circuits

Not sure which you need

Most people call about one thing and need a slightly different one.

Somebody calls about a generator when a battery covers the outages they actually get. Somebody else asks for panels when the first thing to fix is a 1970s service panel. A thirty minute consultation sorts that out before anyone quotes anything. Read the common questions or see where we work.
